Six years ago, a cooking show opened my eyes to the world of real vanilla extract. The rich, complex aroma was a revelation compared to the harsh, chemical notes of synthetic alternatives. However, the price tag on pure vanilla bean extract was a real barrier. Those precious pods seemed destined for single use, leaving me yearning for a more economical way to unlock their magic.
Determined to find a solution, I delved deeper into the world of vanilla. To my astonishment, I discovered that vanilla wasn't just grown in faraway, exotic locales. Here in Kenya, right under our noses, thrived this incredible ingredient! This revelation sparked a new fire – the potential to create delicious baked goods using not only high-quality extracts but also locally sourced treasures.
